ObjectiveTo compare the efficacy of laparoscopic radical gastrectomy of mesogastrium excision above right-side pancreas compared to left-side pancreas. MethodsEighty-two patients undergoing radical gastrectomy of mesogastrium excision above pancreas were selected and divided into right-side group (receiving radical gastrectomy of mesogastrium excision above right-side pancreas)or left-side group (receiving radical gastrectomy of mesogastrium excision above left-side pancreas) by random number table method, with 41 cases in each group. The operation conditions, postoperative prevalence of complications, postoperative pathology, pain degrees and sleep status were compared between the two groups. ResultsIn comparison with the left-side group, the right-side group yielded shorter operation duration, less intraoperative bleeding volume, whereas greater quantities of lymph node dissection (all P＜0.05). There were no significant differences between the two groups in postoperative anal exhaust time, out-of-bed activity time, hospital stays, complications, incisal margin distance to proximal and distal tumor, pathological TNM stage, postoperative pain score, or sleep score (all P＞0.05). ConclusionThe therapeutic effects of mesogastrium excision above right-side and left-side pancreas for radical gastrectomy are equivalent. However, the operation by right-side is of less intraoperative bleeding volume, shorter operation time and higher lymph node detection rate.
