ObjectiveTo explore the efficacy of 3D printed positioning guide plate applied to internal screw fixation of odontoid process fracture. MethodsSixty-two patients with odontoid process fracture of Anderson type II were selected as objects. The patients were divided into control group and experimental group by lottery, with 31 cases in each group. The control group received dentoid hollow compression screw insertion, while the experimental group received hollow compression screw insertion assisted by 3D printed positioning guide plate. The difference in the operation and the effect of postoperative fusion were compared between the two groups. ResultsThe operative duration, intraoperative blood loss and duration of X-ray were less, but the accuracy of screw insertion was higher in the experimental group compared to the control group (P<0.05). The fracture healing rate was lower, and the incident rates of screw breakage and loosening were higher in the control group compared to the experimental group (P<0.05). ConclusionDuring the operation for odontoid process fracture of Anderson type II, screw fixation using 3D printed positioning guide plate has the advantages of simple and convenient operation, accurate screw insertion, less trauma and bleeding, high fusion rate of fracture, and is worthy of clinical application.
