ObjectiveTo analyze the common causes and treatment strategies of ectopic embolism caused by abnormal shedding or rupture of interventional devices. MethodsThe data of 7 patients with ectopic embolism caused by abnormal shedding or rupture of interventional devices were analyzed. Then the causes were summarized, and the prevention and treatment strategies were investigated. ResultsOf the 7 patients, death due to serious complication occurred in 1 patients, and no serious adverse consequences after treatment were found in the other patients. ConclusionThe key to prevent such events is standard operation and detailed preoperative assessment. The removal of the devices leading to ectopic embolism or position change of embolism is an important means to avoid the occurrence of adverse events.
