Traditional surgical methods for calcaneal fracture may destruct of a large local coverage tissue,leading to many complications. With the better understanding of the structure of the calcaneus, minimally invasive techniques have been developed as follows:closed reduction and percutaneous fixation technique poking small incisions cut complex internal fixation,arthroscopically assisted technique calcaneal fractures,external fixation of calcaneal fractures technology,balloon angioplasty,such as resetting the calcaneus matures. Minimally invasive surgery for fractures show both advantages and limitations. Now the development of minimally invasive surgery intreatment of calcaneal fractures, clinical applications,surgical methods,application trends were reviewed in this article.
