ObjectiveTo investigate the calcium sulfate bone cement vertebroplasty and posterior short-segment pedicle screw fixation in the treatment of patients with thoracolumbar fracture and spinal cord compression. MethodsA total of 150 patients with thoracolumbar fracture and spinal cord compression were randomly divided into control group and observation group,75 cases in each group. Patients in observation group received calcium sulfate bone cement vertebroplasty and posterior short-segment pedicle screw fixation treatment, while the patients in the control group received posterior pedicle screw fixation. The recovery of neurological function was compared between the two groups before and after operation, and the situation of the patients were followed up for six months. ResultsAfter 1 month of treatment, the tactile scores, motor score, Cobb′s angle and vertebral height of observation group were superior to those of control group, the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05);Follow-up for six months, neurological function recovery of observation group was better than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). ConclusionIt’s effective in the treatment of thoracolumbar fractures using calcium sulfate cement vertebral plasty combined with posterior pedicle screw fixation.
